DAP’s Jairus Birech and Nelly Jepkosgei both from Kenya came victorious in the men’s 3000m steeple and women’s 1500m respectively

 

birechMARSEILLE - A 2017 - Demadonna’s represented Jairus Birech was the bid winner of the men’s 3000m steeplechase reaching the line in 8’10’’11, while Nelly Jepkosgei imposed herself in the women’s 1500 meters crossing the line in 4’06’’37.

With a world leading performance time of 8’10’’11 this year so far by Kenya's Jairus Birech, the men's 3000m steeplechase was the highlight of the Marseille Pro Athlé meet on Saturday evening. Birech edged fellow countryman Abraham Kibiwott runner up in 8’10”62 and France’s Mahiedine Mekhissi third in 8’14”67.

In the women’s 1500 meters our Nelly Jepkosgei of Kenya cloaked 4’06’’37 to take the victory over Ethiopia's Fantu Worku, second in 4’06”93, while Morocco’s Malika Akkaoui was third in 4’08”79.
