DAP’s  Norah Jeruto of Kenya cruises  9’17”27 to take victory in the women’s 3000 steeplechase at the 2017 Bislett Games on Friday 15

 

norah bislettIn the fifth stage of the IAAF Diamond League in Oslo held Friday June 15, our Norah Jeruto Tanui of kenya was the uncontested protagonist of the women’s 3.000 meters steeplechase when she crossed the finish line in 9’17”27 to take first overtaking in the final stages the Ethiopian Sofia Assefa.

The race produced a dramatic final spectacle as Kenya’s Norah Jeruto, who had led through the bell only to be overtaken on the back straight by Ethiopia’s Sofia Assefa, but Tanui kept grimly in touch, before finding enough energy in the final 10 meters to virtually claw her way back into the lead and victory.

Assefa was second in 9'17"34, with Switzerland’s Fabienne Schlumpf third in a national record of 9'21"65.
