World Athletics Championships 2017 – Demadonna’s Muktar Edris of Ethiopia beats Mo Farah to take the men’s 5,000m gold

edris londonThe Amazing Muktar Edris of Ethiopia crashed the Mo Farah party by beating the Brit to take 5,000 meters gold when crossing the finish line in 13’32”79 at the World Athletics Championships - London 2017.

Having won gold in the 10,000 meters Mo Farah was the favorite to take the 5,000 meters gold as well. It all seemed to go as expected with Farah running extremely well from a tactical perspective, with none of his fellow competitors really forcing him to run any harder; However, in the final 1,000 meters he started to struggle as the 23-year-old Edris and compatriot Yomif Kejelcha really upped the pace.

Farah just couldn't keep up with them and was struggling as he fought off Paul Chelimo from the United States to at least secure a podium. At the end Mo Farah has to settle for a runner up position in a time of 13’33”22, while Paul Chelimo was third in 13’33”22.
