Demadonna’s Gebretsadik Abraha wins the Prague International Marathon in a time of 2h08'47" to lead an Ethiopian sweep

 

gebretsadik praguePrague Sunday May 7 – DAP’s and Ethiopia’s Adihana Gebretsadik Abraha won the Prague International Marathon in 2h08'47" on Sunday to lead an all Ethiopian podium.

About 10,600 runners participated in the 23rd edition of Prague Marathon. The race started in the regular manner with the first leading pack dictating the pace. In the final stages there were still few athletes remaining in contention. Our Abraha trailing Bazu Worku with two kilometers to go, but he was able to come back and pull away from his compatriot in the last kilometer and complete the race victorious in 2h08'47".

"I'm very happy, the course was very difficult," said Abraha at the end of the race.

Worku finished second, one second behind the winner while Mekuant Ayenew was third in 2’09”00.

In the women’s race, Valary Jemeli Aiyabei of Kenya went ahead shortly after the start and held on for victory in a time of 2h21’57” leaving four runners running behind her.

Our Shankule Amane Beriso of Ethiopia found her way for a second place finish in 2h22'16, while Tadelech Bekele placed third.
