Melesech Tsegaye Beyene of Ethiopia and Rebecca Kangogo Chesir of Kenya make it one and two for DAP at the 37th edition of Beijing Marathon on Sunday, 17.


beyeneDemadonna Athletic Promotions was well represented at the 37th edition of Beijing Women's Marathon, the IAAF Gold Label Road Race. In fact, Ethiopia's Melesech Tsegaye, 23- year- old, claiming the victory in a time of 2h27'44" and Kenya’s Rebecca Kangogo Chesir, took another runner-up posintion in 2h30'31", after the second position finsih at the Vienna Marathon this year; thus making it an all DAP affair. Rahma Tusa Chota of Ethiopia was third in 2h33'22".

“It’s very nice, very good,” said Beyene, “It’s was a little bit hot. I didn’t expect to win, but I am really happy. This is my first time coming to Beijing Marathon. They city is very good, amazing. I hope to come back here next year.”

In the men's race Demadonna's Girmay Birhanu Gebru of Ethiopia, winner in 2014, trailed Morocco's Salah Eddine Bounasr in 2h11'26", while Stephen Kwelio Chemlany of Kenya finished third in 2h11'50".

Always non Sunday, 17, this time at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon our Agnes Kiprop, pre-race favourite finished only third timing 2h31'00" in the women’s race won by Ethiopia’s Betelhem Moges in 2h30'22", followed by Namibia’s Helalia Johannes in 2h30'28". Fourth place for Fantu Eticha, also represented by DAP.
