Rome Marathon - Victory for Demadonna's Cosmas Jairus Kipchoge Birech, of Kenya in a personal best of 2h08'03 on Sunday 8

cosmabirech romaGreat show in the capital for the Rome Marathon, this year celebrating its 24th edition. The traditional 42km around the beauties of the Eternal City produced great emotions for the over 14000 runners at the starting line. 

Kenya's Cosmas Jairus Kipchoge Birech imposed himself in the men's race to take the victory with a time of 2h08'03", improving his personal best by 42 seconds set last year and confirming the pre-race expectations although he failed to run 2h06 that he had set as a goal for himself.

Birech broke away from the leading pack in the second part of the race, and his pace was unsustainable for everyone starting from Ibrahim Abdo Abdi from Bahrain, eventually second in 2h08'32". Third place for another Kenyan Paul Kios Kangogo in 2h09'32".

- Istanbul Half Marathon third place for Ozbilen Kaan Kigen of Turkey in the men's race in 60’08’’; third place also in the womens race with Kipyokei Diana Chemtai of Kenya who reached the finish line in 67’55’’, her personal best.
