Demadonna's Caroline Kipkirui of Kenya runs lifetime best to take the victory in the women's 10km road race at the Birell Prague Grand Prix

caroline birell pragueKenya's Caroline Kipkirui cruises in a lifetime best of 30'19" to take a convincing victory at the Birell Prague Grand Prix, an IAAF Gold Label road race on Saturday (8).

The women's race featured three main contenders for almost the intire 10km run. Kenya's Fancy Chemutai alongside compatriots Caroline Kipkirui and Diana Kipyokei reached the half-way mark in 14'48". In the following kilometer, Chemutai had opened up a little gap on Kipkirui and it continued to grow over the next two kilometres.

In the closing stages Kipkirui and Kipyokei closed in on Chemutai. Kipkirui who was now looking the freshest of the trio kicked ahead in the final stages to win in a personal best of 30'19". Chemutai had to settle for second place, clocking 30'22". In third place and also represented by DAP was Diana Kipyokei with a time of 30'23".

 

DAP's Jake Robertson cruises in a personla best of 59'58" to take second palce at the Great North Run HM on Sunday (9).

robertson greatnorthNew Zealand's Jake Robertson's set a new personal best at the Great North Run in north-east England, cracking the 60-minute mark in the half-marathon.

Robertson finished second with a time of 59'58" just 31 seconds behind British great Mo Farah who reached the finish line in 59'26".

Robertson latest result continues an impressive transition to road running after smashing the New Zealand record in his debut marathon in Japan early in March. 59'26".
