Demadonna's Tamirat Tola and Netsanet Gudeta both from Ethiopia won the men's and woman's elite race at the BOclassic 2018

tola boclassic2018Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia was the greatest protagonist of the day in the men's race in Bolzano at the 2018 edition of the traditional BOclassic New Year's Eve event. He did it beating his compatriot Muktar Edris, biggest pre-race favorite who in the final had to settle for a fourth place finish.

Tola, winner in the 2015 edition and silver medal at the 2017 world marathon, won the 10 kilometers course in 28’12’’ setting the second fastest time ever recorded in Bolzano.

Tola and Jairus Birech of Kenya, also represented by DAP gave a thrilling head-to-head race all the way to the finish, but in the end Birech would have to settle for the second position in a time of 28’24’’.

 

tripleta dap bocassicIn the womwn's race, Ethiopia's Netsanet Gudeta took the victory in a time of 15’46’’ to led an all Demadonna Athletic Promotions podium, followed by Kenya's Kisa Janet, sencond in 15’49’’ and Belarusian's Mazuronak Volha third in 16’08’’.

Netsanet Gudeta, world half marathon champion led the race from the first to the last lap, imposing herself against the pack to cross the finish line in 15'30", just 16 seconds off Kenyan's Agnes Tirop course record set last year. This was Gudeta's second victory in Bolzano after winning in 2015.
