Demadonna's Volha Mazuronak of Belarus breaks course record to take victory at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on Sunday (17)

volha mazuronak hongkongRunning in very warm and rainy conditions, Volha Mazuronak of Belarus broke course records at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, an IAAF Gold Label road race, on Sunday (17).

Mazuronak, the 2018 European marathon champion, who finished fifth at the 2016 Olympic Games, cruised to a convincing triumph in 2h26'13" to take off more than three minutes from the previous course record of 2h29'37" set by Ethiopia’s Gulume Tollesa last year.

Mazuronak completely dominated the women's race, finishing almost fours seconds ahead of Bahrain's Eunice Chumba, who finished second in 2h30'02". Further back in third place was Jemila Wortesa of Ethiopia in a time of 2h32'06".
