Demadonna's Jepkosgei Joyciline of Kenya takes the women's victory at the 2019 New York City Half Marathon on Suday 17th

jepkosgei joycilinefl nychalf19Kenya's Joyciline Jepkosgei, half marathon world record holder in 64'51" and 10 kilometers road in 29'43", took a decisive and convincing win of the women's race at this year's edtion of the New York City Half Marathon when crossing the finsish line in 1h10'07".

The fight for the 2nd position was a close one, with Mary Ngugi of Kenya barely edging out Buze Diriba of Ethiopia to cross the finish line second in a time of 1h11'07".

The first part of the race, the athletes were somewhat conservative, reaching in above 5'30" pace in the early miles. By the time they reached mile six Jepkosgei broke away from the lead pack made up by Ngugi, Diriba, Bates, and Linden. She kept her effort all the way and crossed the line first in 1h10'07".  Mary Ngugi, also of Kenya, finished one minute later in second place.
