DAP's Agnes Tirop  of Kenya cloaks 14’50’’82 to take victory in the women's 5000 meters at the Stockholm IAAF Diamond League on Thursday May 30

 

agnes tirop stokolmAt the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm on Thursday evening May 30th it was staged the third meeting of the IAAF Diamond League. Our focus goes to the women's 5000 meters which witnessed the victory of our Agnes Tirop of Kenya. 

In the final stages of the race, Canada’s Gabriela Debues-Stafford led into the home straight and appeared ready to spring a massive surprise, but Tirop soon came storming past her to take the victory in 14:50.82, a 2019 world lead time. Ethiopia’s Fantu Worku was second in 14'51"31 with Kenya’s Lilian Rengeruk taking third in 14'51"34.

In the women's 1500 meters second place for our Akkaoui Malika of Morocco in a time of 4’09’’70, while Jepkosgei Nelly of Kenya claimed  third in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2’01’’98.
