More medals for DAP's Margaret Kipkemboi and Amos Kipruto at the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 |
Margaret Kipkemboi and Amos Kipruto both from Kenya added more medals to the Demadonna Athletic Promotions expedition to the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, winning a silver and bronze medals in the women's 5000 merters and men's marathon respectively.
The women’s 5000 meters final took place on a night of stupendous competition with DAP's Margaret Kipkemboi coming through the finish line to take the silver medal clocking a personal best of 14'27"49. Kipkemboi reached the tape behind her compatriot Hellen Obiri who was able to retain her title in a championship record of 14,26"72, and ahead of German's Konstanze Klosterhalfen third and bronze in 14'28"43.
The men's marathon took off with temperatures at about 29C, and humidity at about 48%, significantly better than the conditions seen during the women's race on the opening day of the championships.
DAP's Amos Kipruto of Kenya reached the finish line in a time of 2h10'51" to take the third place and bronze medal, behind the Ethiopian duo Lelisa Desisa 2h10'40" and Mosinet Geremew four seconds back, first and second respectively.
