DAP's Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya  wins New York City Marathon in her debut at the distance; four-time champion Mary Keitany was second


jepkosgei nycDemadonna's Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya, half marathon world record holder, denies her esteemed countrywoman's Mary Keitany the chance of winning the fifth women's title at the New York City Marathon on Sunday.

Jepkosgei running her first ever marathon race finished the 2019 race first among tens of thousands of competitors reaching the tape in a time of 2h22'38", only 7 seconds off the course record.

Demadonna's represented Mary Keitany, who since 2014, won every New York City Marathon women's title, with one exception in 2017, finished second in 2h23'32". With todays' second place finish means that Keitany has finished in the top two positions in six straight New York City Marathons.

Ruti Aga of Ethiopia completed the podium in third place in a time of 2h25'51".

In the Men's tace our Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia placed fouth with a time of 2h09'20".
