DAP's Kibiwott Kandie of Kenya took top honors winning 2020 Prague Half Marathon with a world best time of 58'37 on Saturday, 06

 

Kandie praguehm2020The 2019 Lille Half marathon and 2020 National cross country champion Kibiwott Kandie of Kenya was crowed big winner of the 2020 edition of Prague Half Marathon covering the distance in a new personal best and world record of 58’37’. 21 seconds faster than his previous personal best set at RAK Half Marathon early in febuary.

Kandie came to Prague with a personal best of 58'58" that he got early this year at the Ras Al Khaimah Half marathon.

Kandie who is a soldier with Kenya defense force took control of the race from the early stages and cruised through to the finish line with a personal best of 58'37": the 5th best world time ever and best time ever ran in the Czech Republic.

Philemon Kimaiyo followed closely in second place crossing the line nineteen seconds later, while Benson Kipruto completed the first three podium finishes in 60'06".

 

jepchirchir prague2020DAP's represented Peres Jepchirchir smashed the women-only race half marathon world record in Prague 21.1KM on Saturday 06.

The 26-year-old Kenyan clocked 1h05'34" over the 16.5 laps of Letna Park’s oval course to eliminate Netsanet Gudeta’s previous record of 1h06'11", set at the 2018 World Half Marathon Championships.

Jepchirchir broke away from her rivals after just 20 minutes, passing 10 kilometres in 30'32" in the race lack of pace makers.

“I thank God, and I’m so excited… I’m satisfied with the result although I thought I could have run 64'50", but I thank God for what He has given me,” Said Jepchirchir to the reporters after the race.

“It was difficult to run alone. If I could have had (good) pacemakers, I could have run under 65”. She concluded
