Patrick Korir Takes first at the 90th edition of Kosice Peace Marathon 2013

Held on October 06, the 90th edition of Kosice Peace Marathon saw three men breaking the 2:10 barrier. The halfway mark was reached in 1:04:33 and there were still seven men together when at the 36km Ethiopia’s Alemayehu Abebe surged and pulled away.

However, the Kenyan pair of Korir and Kiprop worked together and started to reel in Abebe 3km from the line to set up a thrilling end to the race.

Patrick Kiptanui Korir, the 2012 Madrid Marathon winner, would emerge as triumphant in a personal best of 2:09:36 over Abebe and Kiprop, second and third in 2:09:45 and 2:09:45 respectively.
